Making the Invisible Visible:
Scientific Imaging of the Human Biofield
What if we could see the invisible world of energy moving in and around the human body?
The frontier science of biofield imaging is now making this possible in a rigorous and credible way.

Why Biofield Imaging?
By credibly measuring, mapping, and visualizing biofields, the Biofield Imaging Initiative seeks to advance the scientific understanding of the functional role of biofields in health and healing, and share those findings with the public. This could help transform healthcare and wellness through a biofield-based scientific model, and lead to better early diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions to reduce pain and suffering.
Our Research
Phases 1 & 2
Phases 1 and 2 of the Biofield Imaging Initiative involved extensive background research to assess technical feasibility and scope, and to develop a detailed plan for creating scientifically valid images of human biofields. Learn more about Phases 1 and 2 of the initiative.
Phases 3
Phases 1 and 2 of the Biofield Imaging Initiative involved extensive background research to assess technical feasibility and scope, and to develop a detailed plan for creating scientifically valid images of human biofields. Learn more about Phases 1 and 2 of the initiative.

What’s Next
Future work is expected to continue the rigorous measurement and study of human biofields, including:
-
Map full-body biofields
-
Develop new methods of early disease detection
-
Better understand the function of biofields in healing of chronic disease
-
Examine how biofields are influenced by social and environmental factors.

Phases 3
Phase 3 of the Biofield Imaging Initiative involved a pilot study to measure multiple human biofields simultaneously during a series of interventions. This has begun to make visible a dynamic system of biofields, which appear to be influenced by changes in states of mind or consciousness. For more, watch the video below. Three scientific papers reporting on this study are pending, and will be posted when published.

The Biofield Imaging Initiative is enabling researchers to measure and visualize human biofields more thoroughly and rigorously than ever before, revealing insights into the role of biofields in health, diagnostics, and healing.
In a recent pilot study, sensors captured a variety of human biofields as participants engaged in healing practices, meditated, and experienced strong emotions of love. Results point to the existence of a dynamic system of energy in and around the human body, which changes along with shifts in states of consciousness.
“The idea that we're comprised of an interrelated set of fields that permeate the body and to some degree extend outside the body is reasonable and has a solid foundation scientifically.”

About
The Biofield Imaging Initiative is supported by The Subtle Energy Funders Collective, a collaborative group of philanthropists who are working to scientifically validate and better understand subtle energy and biofield healing, and catalyze the adoption of evidence-based biofield therapies into mainstream healthcare, personal wellness and culture.
This study took place at TNO, which is the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, and the largest fully independent Research, Development and Consultancy organisation in the Netherlands
